Conversion Tracking Basics

It is important to understand the end-end tracking flow because it forms the backbone of successful campaigns in performance marketing. This process is described in the steps and flowchart below.

Step 1

The user sees and engages with the advertising creative of an offer and then clicks on this creative (banner, image, text link)

Step 2

Everflow generates a unique transaction ID of the user’s click and forwards the user to the landing page of the offer (your Base Destination URL). Depending on the tracking method chosen, Everflow may also transmit the transaction ID of the click to the advertiser in the offer URL.

Step 3

The user obtains more information on the landing page and converts on the offer. Examples of a conversion include downloading an app, filling out a web form or making a purchase online. The advertiser confirms the conversion by firing the postback for each conversion back to Everflow. This may be in the form of a browser pixel or a server-to-server postback. The latter is preferred because of much better reliability.

Step 4

Everflow retrieves the transaction ID from the postback and ties a conversion to the unique value in the system.

Step 5

Everflow populates system wide reports for your network, your affiliates and your advertisers in their respective logins. The data includes the relevant revenue and payout information for each party.
