Analytics - Flex Report Overview

The following tutorial will outline the basics of the flex report.

Step #1

The first step is to navigate to the dimensional report. It is found under Analytics then Flex.

Flex reports are more similar to the other reports than the dimensional report. There are Filters and a Run Report function.

Step #2

Begin by applying a date range to this flex report. We set it to encompass two months.

Pro tip - There are shortcuts for picking date ranges at the top. The shortcuts are Today, Yesterday, Last Week, Month to Date (MTD), Last Month, Year to Date (YTD).

Now it is time to pick Columns. This is what makes the flex report special. You have the ability to create your own table of data by selecting columns to order the data by.

Reference Column adds an additional column to the report to show the past Affiliate/Partner Manager, Account Manager, Sales Manager, Account Executive or Project ID associated with the data set selected. For example, in the screen shot below, Affiliate/Partner Manager will display the current assigned Affiliate/Partner Manager (Jonathan) and Affiliate/Partner Manager (Derived) is displaying the manager (Everflow Admin) within the same timeframe who was previously assigned to Affiliate/Partner id 84.

The next feature worth mentioning is Filters.  Filters allows you to narrow the data in the table by selecting certain metrics to be included in the report.

The following list are the filters available:

  • Offer
  • Advertiser
  • Affiliate
  • Offer Group
  • Smart Link
  • Affiliate Manager
  • Account Manager
  • Billing Frequency
  • Label
  • Business Unit
  • Category
  • Country

Step #6

Metric Filters allows you to filter the reports by any metric. This is useful when you want to parse through data based on specific values within the metric columns.

Settings  dictates if fail traffic will be visible (default setting is Disabled), Timezone and Currency of the report . Click Save when finished.

Now that the date range, Columns, Filters, and Settings are in place, it is time to click Run Report.

Step #9

Here is the final flex report. As you can see, the table of data is ordered by the way the columns were picked a few screenshots above. Only the data that passes through the filters is included in the report. The flex report is broken down into three different categories: Summary, Performance, and the table of data. Summary shows important metrics such as clicks, total conversions, conversion rate, as well as payout/revenue metrics. Performance is a chart that shows how different metrics have been behaving. You can change the metric displayed on the graph by changing the Metric drop down menu. The table shows the raw data. You can order the table by any of the columns by clicking on the metric you would like to order it by.

To see a chart of key metrics, open the Performance bar.

Step #10

Another important feature of reporting is the Export function. This allows you to take the raw data and export it to CSV or JSON. Clicking on the Export button will give you the option to export in either CSV or JSON. Once you click the download will begin. The report itself is limited to 5000 rows but the rest of the information will transfer over during the export.
