Advertiser Conversion Tracking

This article describes the various methods of integrating a 3rd party attribution platform with the Everflow Tracking Platform.  In many cases, the attribution platform can be an in-house system owned and/or operated by the advertiser so the terms “advertiser” and “attribution platform” may be used interchangeably in this document.

For clarity, we will first describe a typical end-end tracking flow in performance marketing campaigns because it forms the basis of this document. This process is described in the flowchart and the description below. The “network_id” placeholder refers to the unique network ID that is assigned to each Everflow client and is used in the postback URL.

We shall focus on steps 2 and 3 here.

In step 2, the network processes the click and assigns a unique click ID, which is delivered to the advertiser system when the user is routed there.

In Step 3, whenever there is a successful conversion or a post conversion event, the advertiser system fires a postback to the network tracking platform. This postback should include the unique click ID sent by the network in Step 2 and may also include additional details such as an event ID (for post conversion events), sale amount (for user purchase tracking) and other parameters. In cases where the click ID is not available or cannot be sent back by the Advertiser Attribution Platform, the Everflow system will default to a cookie based matching scheme.

It is advisable in these scenarios to send back the offer id (“oid”) and network id (“nid”) parameters in the postback so that the system can guarantee the attribution to the right publisher and offer since cookie based attribution may not be 100% accurate in all cases.

INTEGRATION PROCESS

For an advertiser/attribution platform, the process to integrate with Everflow Tracking platform has the following 2 steps.

Step #1

Configure the advertiser destination URL at the offer level. If the advertiser supports server postback, it's important you set the {tranaction_id} in the URL to pass the unique id generated in Everflow for the click
